The Morris Plains Municipal Alliance Committee supports the following programs:

Educational Programs (for all ages)




D.A.R.E
01

D.A.R.E. (Drug and Alcohol Resistance Education)

The campaign is conducted by the Morris Plains Police Department DARE Officers at Borough School for students from grades 3 through 8. This program is intended to increase youth self-esteem and to create awareness of the dangers of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs.

Drug Resistance Education Day

A field trip for the seventh graders from Borough School to Bonnie Brae's rope course. This campaign is to help students learn group problem solving, set individual goals and improve risk tolerance limits.

October Drug Prevention Month School Assemblies

Sponsored by the MPMAC in association with the Morris Plains Home and School Association for students from grades K through 8.

Parent to Parent

This is a video-based parent education program which teaches them how to actively parent children of all ages and serves to enhance parent awareness of drug and alcohol use among youth.

Senior Lunch and Learn

Free luncheons with a health improvement guest speaker for the senior citizens.

Senior Exercise and Senior Aquacize

Weekly or Bi-weekly aerobic activities for seniors led by qualified trainers, held at Community Park Pool during the summer months.

Self-Esteem Improvement Programs


The MPMAC offers activities to help improve self-esteem and promote healthy lifestyles, by boosting a positive self-image. These programs are designed to help build resistance to experimentation with drugs and alcohol.

Stage Fun

After-school theatre art workshops to assist in boosting self-confidence among students in grades 1 - 5.

Morris Plains Teen Center

Promotes fun, supervised activities for grades 6 - 8 on alternate Friday evenings during the school year.

Parent to Child Program

This program is to create awareness among parents to understand the issues of low self-esteem, confidence issues which their child might be facing. How they can interact with their child to help resolve these issues.

Community Bonfire

Sponsored by MPMAC, this is for all members of the society to meet, discuss and have fun activities.

Father & Son Camp-Out

This is for the fathers' and sons to create the man-to-man bond where they can openly discuss the issues most pre-teenagers face so that they keep away from substance abuse and not given in to peer pressure and end up trying wrong things.

Mother & Daughter Night

This is "just for girls" activity intended to provide positive activities for pre-teen girls to share with their mothers (or female relatives.) to help establish meaningful family bonds and to inspire the girls to choose and enjoy positive, healthy activities in the future.
